The deadline to finalise draft forms was 30th Nov 2019
Forms BS7671 17th edition, BS5839 part 1 or BS5839 part6
With over thirty thousand registered contractors NICEIC and ELECSA are the UK’s leading membership bodies in the electrical contracting industry.
Modern certification system for members
Transition to a more modern certification system has been occurring over the last eighteen months for NICEIC and ELECSA users as online certification is now several years old. Also, due to regulation changes, from the 30th November 2019 support for forms BS7671 17th edition, BS5839 part 1 or BS5839 part6 will end so that technical and customer service support for newer forms and a more user friendly experience can be focussed on.
The current versions of the forms will be available online as PDF’s, editable in draft status and can be finalised until the end of March next year. However, it is suggested that any amendments are completed this month as these membership bodies online certification teams will be unable to assist should any issues arise with these forms after 30th November.
What should registered users do?
Draft forms on the current offline app need to be synchronised to the online certification system.
Using the correct filters in the search area users can access their finalised pdf versions of the old forms.
Online Certification support
A dedicated team will continue answering calls regarding online certification and reply to tickets for BS7671 18th edition BS5839 part 1 2017, BS5839 part 6 2019 and BS5266 part 1 2011
Can old forms transfer to the current versions?
A technical feature to move forms to the more modern certification system is unfortunately unavailable. However, registered NICEIC and ELECSA if certificates cannot be finalised before the key date’s users are able to save pdf versions of their forms in draft status and then re-key the data into a new form manually.
How the end of support will affect certificates created and edited on the offline app
Since NICEIC and ELECSA cannot push updates to the current app or recover any data lost during the online synchronisation process to the users should stop using the offline app.
From January 2019, the 18th edition replaced the online version of the BS7671: 2015 3rd amendment. Further customer support with the 18th Edition Certificates is available from the support section when users are logged in to the Online Certification.
Alternatively, members can call the Online Certification and Support hotline on 0333 015 6630.
